NEED DDP MASTER ARCHIVE
what are you all using as an archive solution? personally, i think a complete disc image is the only way to go, and using the new sonicstudio stuff (where you get a DDP all the time, every time) you always have that final (identical) master. I understand that most of us are delivering CD-R masters, and that it's rarely a problem at the plant. One thing i would like to comment on, from this thread. If you have clients requesting DDP, then you should probably drop the dough on a reliable solution. Still, it's cheaper than buying a mac and going PMCD/soundBlade.

no workflow change for you, coming from samp.
NEED DDP MASTER UPGRADE
if money weren't an issue, i would just upgrade to Sequoia. The good plants will find any technical problems with their software. In other words, if you are creating your masters with good CDs/burners and have error checking software, you won't have any problems.
NEED DDP MASTER SOFTWARE
So I've been asked about 6 times since I've bought the software and nterestly enough, not one major or major/indie label has ever asked for one! However, I was asked a few times for DDP masters so I finally bought some software a couple of years ago.Įven though I know it's technically a better way of sending masters to the plant, I can't in good conscience recommend that my clients pay me more for DDP creation and one does have to charge more for the time it takes. I have created and sent in 1,000's of masters on CD-Rs and have only about a dozen rejected. I've never had any serious issues delivering Redbook PMCDs and no one has yet requested DDP). I'll be following this thread with interest as I, too, would like a DDP solution (though I'm sometimes not even sure why. I had that same concern about Gear when I tried it, Paul.
